Delivery of Beverages and Amenities to Resort Rooms
Aiming to Provide Comprehensive Robot Delivery Service
Kakao Mobility announced on the 21st that it will operate the robot delivery service 'BRING' at Jecheon Restree Resom in partnership with Hoban Hotel & Resort.
BRING is Kakao Mobility's robot delivery service launched in April. It minimizes manager intervention through optimal dispatch of complex delivery orders while maximizing the robot's movement efficiency. Through platform control, the service can operate in existing buildings not originally designed for robots, such as offices, hotels, hospitals, and residences.
Kakao Mobility conducted a proof of concept (PoC) at Jecheon Restree Resom and started beverage delivery during the day and room amenity delivery at night from the 5th. There are plans to expand to simple meal deliveries in the future. The company expects that the service at Resom, which has about 200 rooms and various facilities including F&B restaurants, will help advance delivery robot scenarios optimized for resort-type accommodations.
Resort guests can use the robot delivery service by scanning the QR code provided in each room with their smartphones without downloading a separate application. ▲By accessing the Resom order web via the QR code, ▲they can order desired items and ▲make payments all at once. ▲When the robot arrives at the room, guests enter the provided password and receive their ordered items. Room information is pre-entered, so there is no need to input a separate destination. Arrival and departure information of the delivery robot is sent to customers via text message.
Kakao Mobility enabled the successful implementation of the robot delivery service within the resort through its open robot application programming interface (API) platform 'BRING-ON.' By linking Restree Resom's order web with BRING-ON, the convenience of robot delivery was enhanced without requiring a separate app download. BRING-ON provides an open API that easily integrates with existing apps or websites, allowing hotels or other service providers to operate robot delivery services within their own platforms with ease.
Kakao Mobility plans to showcase robot delivery services at various locations, starting with the introduction of BRING at 'Nudit Seoul Forest' in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, last April. Recently, the company signed a business agreement with Hyundai Elevator to strengthen elevator integration with the BRING platform technology, further advancing the service.
Jang Sung-wook, head of Kakao Mobility's Future Mobility Research Center, said, "We expect that the robot service, capable of navigating all floors and spaces of the resort and simultaneously performing various deliveries such as F&B and amenities, will enhance guest convenience." He added, "Starting with this service introduction, we will secure various scenario-specific cases and solidify our position as a leading robot service platform."
