Gyeongbuk Office of Education Wins Top Prize for Two Consecutive Years at the Active Administration Best Practices Competition

Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) announced on the 21st that it received the Grand Prize in the Provincial and Metropolitan Office of Education category at the '2024 First Half Excellent Active Administration Case Competition' organized by the Ministry of Education. This marks the only case among all provincial and metropolitan offices of education nationwide to win the Grand Prize for two consecutive years.

The Ministry of Education's Excellent Active Administration Case Competition is held biannually to discover cases that the public can relate to and to promote a culture of active administration by rewarding public officials who demonstrate proactive approaches, in order to strengthen the social role of education offices in response to changing policy environments.

The case from Gyeongbuk Office of Education, which was selected as the best in this competition, involved establishing the 'AI Platform School Support Integrated Data Room.' This was the first among public institutions nationwide to introduce digital generative AI, providing information by answering user questions on a searchable website.

This platform has greatly helped reduce the workload by enabling school staff to quickly and accurately find the necessary materials, and it has also been recognized for its significant ripple effect on other public institutions.

Meanwhile, Gyeongbuk Office of Education has continued its winning streak for four consecutive years, including this competition. Notably, last year it received the Grand Prize for 'Establishing Standards for School Facility Repair Cycles,' and was also awarded the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Active Administration by the Ministry of Personnel Management.

These achievements by the Gyeongbuk Office of Education are the result of continuous efforts to establish a culture of active administration. The office has laid an institutional foundation to encourage staff to practice active administration, provided exceptional benefits to outstanding public officials, and implemented various forms of rewards every year.

Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of Gyeongbuk Office of Education, said, "We have strived to spread a culture of active administration through annual competitions and campaigns," adding, "We will continue to lead the public sector culture by motivating our staff with the message that 'active administration is recognized and praised.'"
