'Please Bury Me Together with My Pet Dog' Will
Likely to Be Buried Near a Chapel on Private Land in France

On the 18th (local time), it is expected that France's national actor Alain Delon, who passed away, will be buried on private property.

French media 'Europe 1' and others reported on the 20th that the possibility of Delon being buried on private land in Doucy, central France, has increased. Doucy is also where he lived during his lifetime.

Earlier, before his condition worsened, Delon publicly expressed his wish to be buried in the chapel on the private property in Doucy. Among his last wishes was the hope to be buried alongside his pet dogs, and it is said that there are dozens of graves of his dogs around the Doucy chapel.

Delon is known to have settled in Doucy in 1971 with French actress Mireille Darc. Although he briefly moved to Switzerland in the 1980s, he eventually returned to Doucy seven years later after forming a relationship with Dutch model Rosalie van Brummen.

In France, burial on private property is allowed only under certain conditions. First, the burial site must be outside urban areas and at least 35 meters away from residential areas. Additionally, a hydrologist's opinion stating that there is no risk of water pollution from the burial is required. Approval from the local government is also necessary. However, the mayor of Doucy has already given a 'principled agreement' regarding Delon's burial.

Meanwhile, Delon was a great actor who appeared in about 90 films over more than 50 years, including The Sun Also Rises (1960), Is Paris Burning? (1966), and Le Samoura? (1967). With his impressive looks, he was nicknamed the 'handsome man of the century.'

He suffered a stroke in 2019 and underwent surgery, after which he continued to live in care. In 2022, his son Anthony appeared on a French radio interview and conveyed that "if his father's health deteriorated, euthanasia would be considered." Ultimately, Delon passed away on the 18th at the age of 88.
