Document Submission Deadline by the 25th
Interviews Followed by Sequential Employment Starting October 14th
Starbucks Korea announced on the 21st that it will conduct an open recruitment for baristas for the second half of the year until the 25th.
This second half open recruitment offers various working types for applicants to choose from according to their preferred conditions, including ▲ 25 hours per week (including weekends) with 5 hours per day ▲ 15 hours per week (including weekends) with 3 hours per day ▲ 16 hours per week (weekends only) with 8 hours per day. Barista applicants must be at least 18 years old and anyone can apply regardless of gender, education, or disability. As a mandatory requirement for food service workers, applicants must possess a health check certificate (health card) by the start date of employment.
The second half open recruitment process includes document screening and interviews. Successful barista applicants will begin employment sequentially from October 14th, working as trainee baristas at stores nationwide, and will be converted to regular baristas based on evaluation results. Detailed information and application submission for the 2024 second half barista open recruitment, including salary and benefits, can be found on the Shinsegae Group recruitment website.
Starbucks regularly conducts open recruitment for baristas, recruiting partners who aspire to become baristas. Baristas hired through the open recruitment in the first half of the year are currently working as regular baristas at stores nationwide. In particular, Starbucks conducts “non-discriminatory open recruitment” and recruits diverse applicants. In fact, Starbucks was the first in the industry last year to conduct open recruitment for foreign baristas, and one foreign partner was promoted to a mid-level supervisor this year. Considering the steady increase in applicants wishing to complete systematic barista training, Starbucks introduced a new recruitment process in May that allows faster entry into some stores.
Park Chan-ho, Head of Human Resources Planning Team at Starbucks Korea, said, “We expect great interest in this open recruitment, which provides applicants with an opportunity to take a step closer to their barista dreams and offers quality jobs to local communities.” He added, “Starbucks will continue to focus on nurturing coffee talent based on non-discriminatory open recruitment.”
