Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) announced that it has appointed singer and broadcaster ‘Chuu (CHUU)’ as the ‘50th Anniversary Ambassador of Seoul Subway Opening’ and held an ambassador appointment ceremony at the Seoul Metro headquarters on the 20th.

Chuu (real name Kim Ji-woo), a singer and broadcaster who hosts the web variety show ‘Jikyeochuu chuu can do it’ with about 1.39 million subscribers, has been actively working across various fields including singing, entertainment, and drama since her debut in 2017.

Known by nicknames such as ‘Human Vitamin’ and ‘Happy Virus,’ ambassador Chuu is the perfect person to spread happiness virus to citizens using the Seoul subway. In particular, a photo of her enjoying games with a bright smile inside a Seoul subway train became a hot topic online.

At the ‘50th Anniversary Ambassador Appointment Ceremony of Seoul Subway Opening’ held on the 20th, ambassador Chuu received the appointment plaque from President Baek Ho and said, “I am pleased to be appointed as the ambassador of Seoul Metro on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Seoul subway opening,” adding, “Since this year is a special year marking the 50th anniversary, I will do my best to promote the various charms of the Seoul subway.”

Going forward, Chuu will participate in major events hosted by the corporation for one year as the new face of the Seoul subway. She will also promote the achievements of the past 50 years and the diverse and new charms of the Seoul subway to citizens through various online and offline content with her unique lively charm.

Baek Ho, president of Seoul Metro, said, “To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Seoul subway opening, we have appointed Ms. Chuu, who is loved by many for her lively charm like a human vitamin, as the Seoul subway ambassador,” and added, “We hope she will play a role in discovering and promoting the diverse charms of the Seoul subway to subway users as the new face of the subway together with the corporation.”
