Choo Kyung-ho "Welcome Jin Sung-jun's Reappointment... Expecting Agreement on Livelihood Legislation"

"Stop the reckless remarks and show a responsible public party image"

Choo Kyung-ho, floor leader of the People Power Party, welcomed the reappointment of Jin Seong-jun as the chairman of the Policy Committee under Lee Jae-myung's second term as leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, saying, "It is welcome in terms of having policy continuity and being able to discuss matters swiftly." With the ruling and opposition parties agreeing to handle non-contentious bills at the plenary session at the end of this month, he believes that the reappointment of Chairman Jin could aid negotiations between the parties.

At the floor leaders' meeting held at the National Assembly on the 20th, Floor Leader Choo said, "I hope that urgent bills on livelihood and economic issues, such as the Support for Jeonse Fraud Victims Act, Goo Ha-ra Act, Nurses Act, and National Power Grid Expansion Act, which have been under discussion, can be discussed with speed and that more livelihood legislation can be agreed upon and passed at the plenary session on the 28th." Earlier, the ruling and opposition parties agreed to identify and pass non-contentious livelihood bills at the plenary session at the end of this month.

Floor Leader Choo emphasized, "Now that the Democratic Party's party convention is over, I ask that the frequent harsh remarks that emerged during the process of competing for clarity while only looking at the hardline supporters stop," adding, "It is time to show the responsible image of a political party that seriously considers livelihood issues and engages in intense debate."

Regarding the recent spread of COVID-19, he said, "There are concerns on the ground that it is difficult to respond promptly due to a shortage of medical personnel caused by the departure of residents and a lack of diagnostic kits and treatments," and added, "I urge the government to take thorough measures in quarantine management to the extent that it may seem excessive."
