Northern Education Office: "Opportunities for Drone Technology Experience and Career Exploration"
Busan Northern Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Beomgyu) announced on the 20th that it will host the first-ever '2024 Northern Youth Drone Soccer Tournament' in Busan this November.
This tournament aims to enhance students' problem-solving skills and teamwork through future-oriented sports activities using drones, while also increasing interest in drone technology, a core technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.
The Northern Office of Education will operate the tournament with teams of five players each, competing by scoring drone balls into a circular goalpost 3 meters high in the opponent's area.
The education office will also provide basic drone training and drone soccer education for students new to drone soccer. Schools wishing to participate can apply via official document by the 3rd of next month.
An official from the office expressed expectations that this tournament will be a valuable opportunity for students to experience drone technology firsthand and explore potential career paths.
Kim Beomgyu, Superintendent of the Northern Office of Education, stated, "Drone soccer is more than just a sport; it is a meaningful activity that can increase students' interest in science and technology and enhance their understanding of future industries. I hope this tournament will serve as a stepping stone for northern students to pursue even greater dreams."
