"Moon: Treat as a Retired Senior Politician"
Lee Eon-ju, the Supreme Council Member of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed her thoughts on visiting former President Moon Jae-in as the new party leadership, saying, "Former President Moon Jae-in has already retired, and it is not right to bother someone who has retired," adding, "I intend to treat him as a retired senior politician." Lee, who was once known as a critic of the Moon Jae-in administration, left the Democratic Party criticizing its mainstream faction but rejoined the party in February after seven years.
On the 20th, in an interview on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' the former Supreme Council Member said, "As a politician, I fiercely check and balance the living power when it is wrong," and added, "I criticized former President Moon enough when he was in power." She continued, "I try to maintain a sense of balance," and said, "If former President Moon were exercising wrongful power over the people, I would speak out, but he does not hold power now."

She then said, "Compared to then, the current living power, President Yoon Suk-yeol, is making far more mistakes," and added, "Now, as an opposition politician, I fiercely check and balance the Yoon Suk-yeol administration."
Regarding reports that some party members booed former President Moon’s congratulatory message at the party convention on the 18th, she responded, "I was so focused on my political comeback that I am not well aware." On that day, former President Moon delivered a video congratulatory speech, conveying a message of unity, stating, "Exclusive behavior that blocks party expansion must be rejected." It was reported that some party members responded with boos such as "Be quiet" and "Finish quickly."
On political predictions that former Governor Kim Kyung-soo of Gyeongnam, who was reinstated by a special pardon on Liberation Day, will act as a pro-Moon faction rallying point in the future, she said, "I am opposed to the pardon and reinstatement system itself," but added, "Since he has been reinstated, it would be good to utilize him as a valuable asset within our party." The Supreme Council Member said, "If he intends to engage in major politics going forward, he must have an agenda and vision as a politician," and concluded, "I look forward to it."
