Changwon Special City Holds Emergency Measures Meeting to Prepare for Typhoon Jondari No. 9 and Spring Tide Period.
Changwon City is not expected to be directly affected by Typhoon Jongdari No. 9, but during this meeting, officials focused on discussing measures to prevent damage to vulnerable facilities from heavy rainfall and strong winds, as well as countermeasures to prevent flooding in low-lying coastal areas due to the high tide.
Jang Geumyong, the First Vice Mayor, said, "Please strengthen inspections of stormwater drainage pipes and roadside drainage facilities to enhance preemptive monitoring and prevent any damage caused by rainfall," adding, "Also, check once again the fastening status of facilities to prevent damage from strong winds, such as fruit drop in orchards, tower cranes at construction sites, and outdoor signboards on buildings."
He continued, "As coastal water levels can rise rapidly during the high tide, I ask you to thoroughly prepare by readying drainage pumps, deploying flood control materials, and strictly controlling access and monitoring in flood-prone areas. Not only related departments but also relevant agencies should share information in real time to ensure prompt rescue and relief activities and active support of necessary resources in case of emergencies. We will do our utmost to protect the lives and property of our citizens."
