Noru Paint, Industry's First to Obtain 'ISCC PLUS' Eco-Friendly Certification

Noroo Paint announced on the 20th that it has become the first company in the domestic paint industry to obtain the global eco-friendly material certification ‘ISCC PLUS’.

The ISCC PLUS certification is a system that verifies sustainability and low-carbon product manufacturing systems throughout all processes from raw material procurement to production and sales, based on the European Union (EU)’s Renewable Energy Directives (RED). Over 140 global raw material manufacturers and research institutions are members, and it is recognized as a credible eco-friendly certification due to its rigorous verification process that can take up to eight months.

Noroo Paint obtained this certification by verifying its eco-friendly acrylic paint production system that replaces conventional petroleum-based styrene with styrene produced from plant-based raw materials and pyrolysis oil derived from waste plastics.

The certification covers the production system of all paints made using eco-friendly styrene, enabling acceleration toward a circular economy that reuses resources. It also ensures sustainability of the supply system based on clear CoC (Chain of Custody) and traceability.

Noroo Paint declared its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management and has successively announced sustainable and eco-friendly advanced technologies, including the country’s first USDA-certified bio paint. Since introducing recycled coatings using waste automobile windshields, the company has secured competitiveness by creating a resource circulation ecosystem, such as obtaining recycled material certification for ‘steel recycled anti-corrosion coatings’ from Intertek, the world’s largest testing, inspection, and certification organization based in the UK, this year.
