First, LG Electronics plans to install and support food waste processors and tumbler washers. Ansan City will provide administrative and institutional support to help activate these activities locally.
LG Electronics will conduct a pilot project for home food waste processors targeting about 40 households in Ansan's apartment complexes. The selected households will be sequentially provided with the food waste processors developed by LG Electronics starting at the end of this month. For about two months thereafter, the amount of food waste generated before and after the installation of the processors will be investigated, and the results will be analyzed to verify the effectiveness of the food waste processors in reducing food waste.
The LG Electronics food waste processor, introduced for the first time in this pilot project, features a built-in structure under the sink to enhance user convenience, and combines the advantages of an environmentally friendly and low-noise microbial decomposition type by breaking down food waste with microorganisms. The official launch is planned to proceed after this field test process and verification.
In addition, LG Electronics and Ansan City will carry out activities to create a "Disposable-Free Gyeonggi Special Zone (Bono-dong Saemgol-ro)." They will install LG’s tumbler washer "myCup" in cafe stores to promote a culture of using reusable cups. The installation of myCup will also be expanded to various public institutions located in Ansan, and the effectiveness of the project will be verified through related campaigns and continuous monitoring.
