Dobong-gu Mayor Oh Eon-seok Meets Seoul City Officials to Discuss District Redevelopment Projects

Oh District Mayor Attends Dobong, Nowon, Gangbuk Redevelopment Project City-District Communication Meeting
Conveys Redevelopment Project Difficulties from District to City, Proposes Practical Policy Measures
Four Items Including Mandatory Park and Green Space Relaxation, Military Facility Installation Relaxation, Rental Housing Relaxation

Dobong-gu Mayor Oh Eon-seok Meets Seoul City Officials to Discuss District Redevelopment Projects

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, attended the '2nd Maintenance Project City-District Communication Meeting' on August 14 and conveyed four proposals related to local maintenance projects to Seoul city officials.

The meeting was organized to review current issues in the three areas of Dobong, Nowon, and Gangbuk and to listen to the difficulties faced by each autonomous district.

According to the district office, Mayor Oh expressed the difficulties of Dobong-gu's maintenance projects due to the lowest official housing land prices among Seoul's 25 autonomous districts and the designation of the large-scale defense cooperation zone, and reportedly presented realistic policy measures to the city.

Mayor Oh first requested the relaxation of mandatory park and green space securing standards in the promotion of reconstruction projects. He stated, "Even though parks and green spaces have already been established within or near existing apartment complexes, requiring additional donation of parks and green spaces lowers project feasibility. Please include existing parks and green spaces in the mandatory secured area," he proposed to the city.

He also requested active consultations between the city and the Ministry of National Defense to relax standards for military facility installations within apartment complexes during maintenance projects, and to differentiate the mandatory rental housing construction ratio in redevelopment projects according to local conditions.

Lastly, considering the district's relatively low average apartment sale prices and transaction status, he proposed lifting the designation of the land transaction permission zone in the Sintong redevelopment project area.

In response, the city stated that it would conduct an in-depth review of the proposed items and expressed its intention to directly negotiate with the Ministry of National Defense, especially regarding the relaxation of military facility installation in maintenance projects.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "I conveyed the difficulties of Dobong-gu, where project feasibility such as reconstruction and redevelopment is lower than other districts, to Seoul city. I hope that Dobong-gu's maintenance projects will proceed quickly and smoothly through this meeting."
