Intensive Food Hygiene Inspection of Children's Preferred Food Cooking and Sales Establishments from August 20 to 26
Targeting a Total of 250 Businesses within School Food Safety Protection Zones
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) will conduct a food hygiene inspection targeting children's favorite food preparation and sales establishments located within the children's food safety protection zones starting from the 20th, coinciding with the autumn school reopening.
The inspection aims to prevent food accidents in advance and provide a safe food environment for children by checking stores mainly used by children, such as stationery shops and snack bars, within 23 food safety protection zones around schools.
The inspection will be intensively carried out over five days until August 26, targeting a total of 250 locations.
The main inspection items include ▲ use and storage of products past their expiration date ▲ compliance with storage standards for frozen and refrigerated products ▲ hygiene management of cooking facilities ▲ sale of foods detrimental to emotional health ▲ mandatory nutrition labeling checks ▲ prohibition of high-caffeine sales to children, among others.
In particular, dedicated children's favorite food managers who have completed narcotics prevention education will review the commercial use of terms such as ‘narcotics’ and ‘hemp’ in food labeling, advertising, menus, and signboards, requesting voluntary removal and restraint.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “With the start of the school term, we will conduct thorough hygiene management and inspections so that our children can consume safe and healthy food with peace of mind. We will do our best to ensure that children, who will lead the future, can purchase and consume hygienic and safe food.”
