Chinese Passenger Who Insisted "No Nails on Luxury Bag Bottom" Ejected from Plane

A commotion occurred when a female passenger in China refused to place her luxury handbag on the cabin floor and was forcibly removed from the plane by airport police.

Recently, the Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that this incident took place on a China Express flight departing from Chongqing Airport in southwestern China to Hebei Province in the north. While preparing for takeoff and inspecting the cabin, a flight attendant asked a female passenger to place her handbag under the seat in front of her. At the time, the woman had a Louis Vuitton handbag placed beside her seat.

Inside the cabin, there is a risk that bags can fly around during turbulence or other incidents, potentially injuring people or blocking escape routes. Therefore, passengers are required to store carry-on luggage in overhead compartments or under the seat. This is especially important during the first three minutes after takeoff, when the plane climbs steeply and various unexpected situations can occur.

However, the woman insisted that she could not put her bag on the floor because it was a luxury item. Even after the flight attendant repeatedly explained the safety risks, the woman refused to follow the instructions. After about an hour of dispute, the flight attendant finally called airport police to forcibly remove the woman from the plane.

Due to this commotion, the plane, which had completed preparations for takeoff and entered the runway, had to return to the boarding gate, causing the flight to be delayed by more than an hour. It was also reported that subsequent flights were disrupted as well.

Later, a passenger shared a video of the incident on the Chinese social networking service Douyin, which garnered over 4 million views. As the video spread, netizens in the area engaged in heated debates about the woman’s behavior.

Some netizens criticized the woman for not following the flight attendant’s instructions, saying things like, "Is the bag more important than life?", "The flight attendant and captain did their job properly," and "She got what she deserved for being a nuisance." On the other hand, some expressed disappointment with the flight attendant’s handling of the situation, commenting, "If the flight attendant had provided something to store the bag, it would have ended quickly," and "Was it really necessary to waste an hour like that?"
