Mapo-gu Seeks Local Contributors Leading Environmental Protection Efforts

Nominations Open Until September 20 for the 15th Mapo-gu Environmental Awards... Ceremony in November
Four Categories Including Environmental Conservation, Resource Recycling, and Energy Saving, Two Winners Selected per Category

Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Gang-su) is accepting nominations for the "15th Seoul Special City Mapo-gu Environmental Award" until September 20.

The Environmental Award was established to discover and encourage residents or organizations who have contributed to sustainable development such as environmental protection, carbon neutrality, and green growth.

The nomination categories are ▲environmental conservation ▲resource recycling ▲practice of green living and cultivating green villages ▲energy saving, with 2 recipients selected in each category, totaling 8 individuals or organizations.

Nominees must be individuals who have resided in Mapo-gu for more than 3 years as of the announcement date or organizations located in Mapo-gu, who have actively participated in environmental fields and have notable achievements.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, is cleaning up trash with volunteers at Seongsancheon Stream last April.

Nominations can be made by heads of related institutions, organization leaders, school principals, and heads of relevant departments for each award category.

Applications should be submitted with the nomination form, achievement report, and other required documents by visiting the Clean Environment Division of Mapo-gu Office or the local community service center of the nominee’s address, or by registered mail. Required documents can be checked on the Mapo-gu Office website.

After verifying the achievements of the nominated candidates, Mapo-gu will finalize the awardees through the Mapo-gu Environmental Committee and plans to hold the award ceremony in November.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “If there are unsung heroes who personally practice environmental protection and green living for a clean and clear Mapo, we ask for your active nominations,” and added, “Mapo-gu will do its best to raise residents’ awareness of environmental protection and create a pleasant environment.”
