Dongmyung University (President Jeon Ho-hwan) soccer team (acting head coach Lee Seungjun) advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Jeonju Kijeon College 2-1 in the round of 20 of the 60th Autumn University Football Federation Baekdudaegan Cup, held on the 16th at Gowon 1 Stadium in Taebaek, Gangwon.
In this tournament, Dongmyung University was placed in Group 6, known as the "Group of Death," along with Yonsei University and Ajou University, where they recorded 2 wins and 1 loss, advancing to the round of 20 as the second-place team in their group.
In the match against Jeonju Kijeon College, Dongmyung University took the lead in the 33rd minute of the first half with a free kick goal by Hong Jiyu (No. 8). Then, just one minute into the second half, Seo Minjae (No. 72) scored the winning goal by finishing a corner kick from Kim Jaehyun (No. 12).
Although Dongmyung University conceded a goal to Jeonju Kijeon College's counterattack in the second half, they did not allow any further goals and secured the victory.
Dongmyung University will face Incheon University on the 18th at Gowon 1 Stadium for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Acting head coach Lee Seungjun expressed his determination to win, stating that although Incheon University is a strong team currently in second place in the U-League Region 1, they are committed to victory.
After the match, President Jeon Ho-hwan called head coach Lee Seungjun to congratulate him and encourage the players.
Since its founding on December 20 last year, the Dongmyung University soccer team has been creating a new team legend by winning the Hansan Daecheopgi in February this year and finishing as runners-up in the Taebaeksangi Tournament of the University Football Federation, which is only for first and second-year students, in July.
