Advanced Complex General Industrial Complex Gas Company with a Daily Capacity of 24,000 Tons
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province is promoting a plan to supply treated sewage water as industrial water to companies within the industrial complex.
On the 19th, Pyeongtaek City announced that it has started a detailed design service to supply treated sewage water as industrial water to companies moving into Phase 1 of the "Advanced Complex General Industrial Complex" being developed in the Bangchuk-ri area of Godeok-myeon.
A city official explained, "We are promoting a plan to utilize treated sewage water as industrial water for efficient water use."
The Advanced Complex Industrial Complex is an industrial complex being developed on a 460,000㎡ scale in the Bangchuk-ri area of Godeok-myeon, south of Samsung Electronics' Godeok Campus. The project implementer, Pyeongtaek Advanced Complex Industrial Complex PFV, plans to complete construction by the end of this year with an investment of 425.8 billion KRW. Three large gas companies, including Linde Korea, which produces nitrogen and other gases supplied to Samsung Electronics, are scheduled to move into the complex.
The city plans to supply purified treated water from the nearby Godeok Public Sewage Treatment Plant as cooling industrial water to these gas companies. After conducting the detailed design service by April next year, the city will complete construction work such as building a 3.5 km supply pipeline and establishing a relay pumping station, and plans to supply 24,000 tons of treated sewage water per day starting from the second half of 2027. The total project cost of 22.5 billion KRW, including 900 million KRW for the detailed design service, will be fully borne by the respective gas companies.
The use of treated sewage water as industrial water is also an issue actively being considered by the government. Previously, in November 2022, the Ministry of Environment signed an agreement with Gyeonggi Province, Pyeongtaek City, Yongin City, Hwaseong City, Samsung Electronics, and others to supply treated sewage water as industrial water to Samsung Electronics' semiconductor factories. According to the agreement, starting in 2030, 102,000 tons per day of treated water from the Suji and Giheung sewage treatment plants in Yongin will be supplied to Samsung's Giheung Campus. Additionally, 372,000 tons per day of treated water from the Suwon, Hwaseong Dongtan 2, and Osan sewage treatment plants will be supplied to Samsung's Godeok Campus.
