Discovering Public Robot Services and Providing Demonstration Environments
Five Companies Selected Through Final Evaluation on the Day
Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) announced on the 19th that it will hold the "1st Gangnam-gu Administrative Demand Customized Robot Testbed Proposal Presentation" on the 28th of this month from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Live Plaza on B2 of COEX.
This contest project is a specialized initiative launched for the first time this year by Gangnam-gu, which is promoting robot industry support policies aimed at building a robot-friendly city, in collaboration with the Korea Institute for Robot Convergence and the Korea Robot Industry Association. The district plans to actively provide demonstration environments to robot companies using public infrastructure it owns and to discover public robot services.
The district recruited participating companies from May to June 19, and 10 companies that passed the preliminary screening will participate in this public presentation evaluation. Among them, five companies will be selected to receive up to 40 million KRW in support and be provided with demonstration environments until March next year. Companies with excellent demonstration results will be supported to expand their demonstration projects linked with Gangnam-gu’s infrastructure even after the project period ends.
The 10 companies proposed service robots applicable in various fields such as administration, safety, welfare, and environment: ▲ Clobot’s indoor dry cleaning robot ▲ Eden T&S’s automation software applying RPA (Robotics Process Automation) to simple and repetitive administrative and civil service tasks ▲ Seo’s fire and gas detection patrol robot ▲ Dogu Space’s patrol robot specialized for outdoor environments to support safe return home ▲ Zetabank’s bottled water delivery service using robots ▲ AR247’s food and beverage delivery service connecting hospitals and nearby stores ▲ Watt’s floor-by-floor delivery service through storage of delivery items and waybill recognition inside buildings ▲ Superbin’s robot for sorting and collecting PET bottles for recycling ▲ NDS Solution’s multilingual voice-guided tourist information robot ▲ Doosan Robotics’ unmanned cafe robot using collaborative robots. An exhibition booth where visitors can experience the participating companies’ robots will also be operated from 1 PM to 4 PM at the event venue.
District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong stated, “We plan to lower the barriers for demonstration projects to accelerate the commercialization of service robots that enhance residents’ convenience and expand the target areas to the private sector as well. In October this year, we will open a testbed in the Suseo Robot Hub District that simulates an urban environment to freely support the demonstration of service robots such as delivery and patrol.”
