Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 18th that it has become the first domestic construction company to receive international certification for safety and quality management capabilities throughout the entire lifecycle of nuclear power plants. This is expected to accelerate its entry into overseas nuclear power markets, including Europe.
On the 14th, Hyundai Engineering & Construction received the ISO 19443 certification for nuclear supply chain quality management system at the T?V S?D Korea office located in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. T?V S?D is a global certification body that has implemented safety and quality standards for over 70 years across the entire nuclear power industry, from planning, design, construction, operation, to decommissioning of nuclear power plants.
ISO 19443 is an international nuclear quality management standard designed to improve the safety and quality of the nuclear supply chain. This certification targets companies in the Important to Nuclear Safety (ITNS) product or service sectors and has recently become a basic requirement for participation in nuclear power projects in major European nuclear operating and ordering countries.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction obtained the ISO 19443 certification through T?V S?D, a leading German testing and certification institution, based on its systematic quality assurance and implementation system in the nuclear power business sector and its excellent practical application level.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction is the only domestic construction company to meet all certification requirements covering the entire nuclear power plant lifecycle, including not only nuclear power plant construction but also ▲ design and project management ▲ on-site services (installation, assembly, maintenance) ▲ commissioning ▲ decommissioning and dismantling.
A Hyundai Engineering & Construction official stated, “We are continuously strengthening our core competitiveness across the entire nuclear power industry, including large nuclear power plants, small modular reactors, nuclear decommissioning, spent nuclear fuel processing, and hydrogen production using nuclear power.” He added, “We will further solidify our position as a total nuclear power solution provider in the global nuclear power market.”
