This dialogue is part of the "2024 Korean Political Science Association Summer International Conference (Busan Dongseo University Centum Campus Convention Hall)" held from the 21st to the 23rd, attended by over 300 domestic and international scholars.

Through keynote speeches, the two mayors will present visions on three topics: ▲National development strategies to secure new growth engines for Korea ▲Political reform measures for the proper role of Korean politics ▲Response strategies in the era of complex global security. In the sessions for each of the three topics, Cho Hwa-soon, President of the Korean Political Science Association (Professor of Political Science and Diplomacy at Yonsei University), will serve as the chair to facilitate detailed discussions through questions and answers on each topic.

At this event, Mayor Oh will point out that "centralized and uniform regional development strategies cannot overcome Korea's chronic low growth and deepening polarization," emphasizing the need for a "paradigm shift to regional hub economies." He will also present bold ideas for national prosperity as solutions to polarization, regional disparities, and population decline caused by the limitations of Korea's growth model.

Furthermore, for Korean politics to fulfill its proper role, he will propose political reform tasks such as ▲decentralization of the centralized and monopolistic powers of the central government ▲restoration of parliamentary democracy through intra-parliamentary party system reforms for a more effective National Assembly ▲and fostering a political culture of integration and tolerance. Additionally, regarding Korea's diplomacy and security strategy amid rapidly changing international order, he will share thoughts on ▲a national interest diplomacy strategy that secures both values and practical benefits ▲and a self-reliant security strategy including acquiring nuclear capabilities to effectively deter North Korea's nuclear threat.
