On the 16th, Baek Ji-young released a video titled "Baek Ji-young Shocked by the Summer Electricity Bill Bomb" on YouTube. While preparing Samgyetang for the hottest days of summer, Baek Ji-young was talking with her staff on the sofa and expressed concern about the electricity bill. After learning that she could check the electricity bill through the Korea Electric Power Corporation's mobile application, she was surprised to find that the bill had already exceeded 710,000 won in early August.

The video showed subtitles saying, "Prepare about 2.8 million won." When a staff member asked, "Did you not expect it to be this much?" Baek Ji-young replied, "Of course." When the staff asked, "Does this mean you can't turn on the air conditioner anymore?" Baek Ji-young, making a face as if her blood pressure was rising, said, "Don't you know about that from before? Ignorance is bliss. I was taking my medicine well," and shouted, "Turn off all the air conditioners."

It is known that Baek Ji-young lives in an 80-pyeong (approximately 264 square meters) house located in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, Seoul. Electricity bills are generally determined by adding the basic charge, electricity usage charge, and climate environment charge. However, if electricity consumption increases, the charges increase progressively. For usage up to 200 kWh, the basic charge is 910 won and the electricity usage charge is 120 won per kWh, but if usage increases to 201?400 kWh, the basic charge rises to 1,600 won and the electricity usage charge to 214.6 won per kWh. If usage exceeds 400 kWh, the basic charge jumps to 7,300 won and the electricity usage charge to 307.3 won per kWh. Based on residential low-voltage electricity, using about 1,500 kWh results in an electricity bill of approximately 710,000 won. According to the Korea Electric Power Corporation’s monthly electricity statistics report, the average household electricity consumption in August last year was 333 kWh.
