Former Gunja-dong Community Center Site to Open for Pilot Operation from the 12th... Equipped with State-of-the-Art Facilities Including Physical Function Measurement Room and Classrooms on the 2nd and 3rd Floors... Customized Programs Like Sling Exercise, Nordic Walking, and G-Track Walking to Start from Late September
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) opened the Gunja Health Center (151 Gunja-ro) on the 12th and began pilot operations.
Amid the heatwave, the opening ceremony was omitted, and final preparations are underway.
The old Gunja-dong office building, constructed in 1982, was over 40 years old and deteriorated. In 2022, after relocating and constructing the Gunja-dong Complex Office Building, the center was remodeled reflecting residents' opinions and reborn as the Gunja Health Center.
The center occupies the 2nd and 3rd floors. The 2nd floor, with a total floor area of 206㎡, consists of a physical function measurement room, counseling room, and sling exercise room, arranged to facilitate physical function evaluation and counseling. In particular, a G-Trac was installed to maximize space utilization for efficient walking exercise. The 3rd floor is a 107㎡ health education room designed to enjoy exercise and health lecture programs.
Program participants undergo body shape and fitness measurements and receive one-on-one customized counseling. The process includes ▲health questionnaire completion ▲body composition and blood pressure tests ▲physical function and gait analysis evaluation ▲customized exercise counseling, taking about 40 minutes.
The exercise programs will officially start on September 30. The three-month programs led by exercise instructors include ▲Sling exercise class activating neuromuscular function using sling ropes and small tools ▲Nordic walking class using Nordic sticks for outdoor walking ▲G-Trac walking class to learn correct walking posture and walking exercises.
Those wishing to participate can apply by phone at the Gunja Health Center starting September 2. Participating in recommended programs based on individual health evaluations can yield better exercise effects. For more details, contact the Gunja Health Center.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We have prepared various programs so that residents can conveniently receive fitness measurements and health management. We hope the newly transformed Gunja Health Center becomes a healing place where exercise is part of daily life,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to develop customized programs for residents' health promotion.”
