Professor Yoo Hyung-seok's research team from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Hanyang University announced on the 17th that they have developed a smart clothing system for ultra-long-distance wireless monitoring of biometric data.
Recently, technology for wireless monitoring of biometric data has been gaining attention as a solution to overcome the limitations of existing wired systems. The existing wired systems have been criticized for restricting patient mobility and incurring high installation costs.
The research team designed the system to enable real-time monitoring of patients at a low cost.
The results of this study were published in the 'IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics,' a leading international journal in the field of automation and control systems. Professor Yoo stated, "This provides an opportunity to advance one step beyond wired biometric monitoring," adding, "By integrating various Internet of Things (IoT) sensor technologies, we expect to significantly expand the application range to industrial environments as well."
