In response to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, the Presidential Office announced on the 16th that it is "in the process of signing a purchase contract to supply 260,000 doses of treatment drugs."

A Presidential Office official told reporters in the afternoon, "We are currently actively responding to the resurgence of COVID-19," and made the statement.

The official explained, "The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency has established and announced public prevention guidelines, including recommendations for wearing masks, and emergency reserve funds have been secured to meet the increased demand for treatment drugs."

He added, "Since yesterday, additional supplies of oral and injectable treatments have begun," and said, "We plan to expand the volume of imported supplies and sequentially introduce treatments urgently, and are currently negotiating detailed schedules with pharmaceutical companies."
