Gyeongsan City (Mayor Cho Hyunil) announced that from the 19th, it will be recruiting 50 members for a citizen participation group to determine the future vision of Gyeongsan together with citizens as part of the establishment of the '2040 Gyeongsan Urban Master Plan'.
The urban master plan is a comprehensive plan that presents the desirable future vision and long-term development direction of Gyeongsan City with a 20-year outlook, in accordance with the "National Land Planning and Utilization Act." This plan includes various sectoral policies and plans such as urban spatial structure, land use, transportation, environment, and housing, and serves as a guideline for the subsequent urban management plan.
The citizen participation group will be organized into subcommittees such as urban/housing, transportation, industry, economy, culture, tourism, education, welfare, environment, and safety. The group will freely discuss a wide range of topics, including Gyeongsan's population decline and aging issues, future living area plans, balanced development, and job creation, and will derive the future vision and development strategies for Gyeongsan in 2040.
Approximately 50 people will be recruited, and any Gyeongsan citizen aged 19 or older is eligible to participate. Applications can be submitted by filling out the application form on the Gyeongsan City website and sending it via email, fax, mail, or in person from the 19th to September 6th over a three-week period.
The citizen participation group will begin its activities with an inaugural ceremony in September and will operate until the end of October. The opinions and visions proposed by citizens will be used as foundational data for the establishment of the 2040 Gyeongsan Urban Master Plan.
Cho Hyunil, Mayor of Gyeongsan, emphasized, "The imagination and suggestions of Gyeongsan citizens will play a crucial role in determining the future of Gyeongsan," and added, "Through an urban plan that reflects the voices of citizens, we will realize an open administration based on communication and citizen-centered empathetic governance."
