Hometown Love Donation Also Set at 1 Million Won
The hometown love donation movement continues in Punggak-myeon, Cheongdo-gun, supported by donors who wish for the development of their hometowns. Kim Hasu is the governor of Cheongdo-gun.
On the 15th, former National Assembly member Lim Byunghun, who is originally from Geumgok-ri, Punggak-myeon, Cheongdo-gun, treated lunch to about 130 village residents at Geumgok Forest Park and donated 20 million KRW to the Geumgok-ri village development fund and 1 million KRW to the Hometown Love Donation Fund. Lim Byunghun previously served as the 24th mayor of Nam-gu, Daegu, was elected as the 21st National Assembly member, and served as the floor leader of the People Power Party.

The Hometown Love Donation System allows individuals to donate up to 5 million KRW per year to local governments other than their current address. Donors receive a full tax deduction for donations up to 100,000 KRW, and a 16.5% tax deduction for amounts exceeding 100,000 KRW. In addition, donors can receive local specialty return gifts worth up to 30% of their donation amount.
Former National Assembly member Lim Byunghun said, "I am happy to be able to contribute, even in a small way, to the development of my hometown, Cheongdo. If there is anything I can do for its future development, I will actively participate."
Yoon Jaehee, head of Punggak-myeon, said, "I would like to express my gratitude to National Assembly member Lim Byunghun for his warm-hearted support for Cheongdo-gun. The donated funds will be used where they are most needed for the development of Cheongdo. I expect that these donations will greatly contribute to the activation of the Hometown Love Donation System in Cheongdo-gun."
