"Living in Korea for 16 Years... Deep Affection"
"French Archers Happy to Compete Against Korea"
"Life Isn't Easy... Hope Malicious Commenters Find Other Ways to Vent"
Fabien, a broadcaster from France, spoke about the criticism he received after cheering for France at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
On the 15th, a video titled "Confession about feelings on the Paris Olympics" was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Fabien Fabien Yoon'. On this day, Fabien began by saying, "Many people asked me who I would support when Korea and France compete. I want to say it once again through this video."
He said, "I have lived in Korea for a little over 16 years. I have spent half of my life in Korea," adding, "I have a deep affection for Korea because I have practiced Taekwondo since I was young." He then honestly shared, "However, if Korea and France compete, I think I would support my homeland, the country where I was born, France, a little more."
Fabien added, "I feel a bit sad when France is eliminated, but if the country advancing is Korea, it’s not bad," and said, "I won’t lie and say ‘I hope Korea beats France’ just to gain popularity."
He continued, "Didn’t Korea and France face off in the men’s team archery final? Actually, France is a country where archery has not been developed for long," and said, "After the match, I met with the French players, and they were very happy. They might even consider it an honor to have competed against Korea and lost." He added, "There were more people than I expected who left malicious comments on my channel during the Olympics," and said, "I really hope you stay strong and do well. I recommend trying other ways to vent your frustration."
Fabien conveyed vividness through content where he watched the games live at the Paris Olympics venue. He observed matches where Korea and his homeland France competed in archery, fencing, and other sports. Meanwhile, some viewers left malicious comments, causing controversy, because Fabien supported his homeland France instead of Korea, where he is active.
