Yeosu World Island Expo Citizen Preparation Committee Launches Domestic Promotion Efforts

Promoting Island Expo during Visits to Boryeong, Chungnam and Tongyeong, Gyeongnam

Yeosu City in Jeollanam-do announced that the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo Citizen Preparation Committee (Chairman An Gyu-cheol, hereinafter referred to as the Citizen Preparation Committee) is intensifying efforts to promote the Islands Expo by touring domestic local governments.

On the 8th, about 40 members of the Citizen Preparation Committee participated in the ‘5th Islands Day’ event held in Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do, focusing on promoting the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo while visiting the exhibition halls of various local governments set up at the Daecheon Beach Mud Plaza.

On the 13th, the committee visited Tongyeong, a sister city of Yeosu, held a meeting with Tongyeong Mayor Cheon Young-gi, and requested active interest and cooperation for the successful hosting of the Islands Expo. They also agreed to strengthen friendly cooperation between the sister cities through private exchanges between Yeosu and Tongyeong.

Additionally, in celebration of the ‘63rd Tongyeong Hansan Battle Festival,’ they operated a promotional exhibition booth to continue promoting the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo.

Chairman An Gyu-cheol stated, “The 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo, which is attracting much attention both domestically and internationally, will be actively promoted by the committee members to ensure its successful hosting.”
