The National Association of Medical Students' Parents and the Gyeonggi-do Medical Association held a rally on August 15, Liberation Day, urging the cancellation of the medical school enrollment increase.

Participants held paper placards with slogans such as "Guarantee the learning rights of 18,000 medical students" and "Comply with international standards of the Korea Institute of Medical Education and Evaluation (KIMEE)" at the rally calling for the normalization of medical education, held at 2 p.m. in front of Daehanmun Gate in Jung-gu, Seoul.


They shouted slogans like "Unprepared medical school expansion damages medical education" and "If medical education collapses, future healthcare will collapse."


Approximately 5,000 people participated in the rally held amid the heatwave, according to the organizers. Lee Dong-wook, president of the Gyeonggi-do Medical Association, raised his voice, saying, "Despite 18,000 medical students being unable to attend school for seven months, the government remains silent," and added, "Healthcare, medical education, and public health have collapsed."


After marching to the Government Seoul Office Building, the participants concluded the rally around 5 p.m.
