In preparation for reckless driving incidents during this year's Gwangbokjeol holiday, the police deployed 3,102 traffic officers and 1,230 pieces of equipment. As a result, they detected 1 case of reckless driving, 39 cases of drunk driving, 20 cases of unlicensed driving, 97 cases of violations of the Automobile Management Act such as illegal modifications and obscuring license plates, and 632 other cases.
A police official stated, "For serious legal violations such as joint dangerous acts, we plan to impose criminal penalties after analyzing evidence materials," adding, "In the future, we will conduct strict crackdowns on reckless and dangerous driving during holidays and weekends by utilizing personnel and equipment from traffic, criminal, and riot police units."
