On the 14th, Gumi University Holds Cooking Evaluation to Select Participants for 'Gumi Ramyeon Festival'
Final 15 Teams Chosen... Professional Consulting Provided Including Recipe and Hygiene Education
On the 14th, the city of Gumi in North Gyeongsang Province held an on-site cooking evaluation at Gumi University to select participating businesses for the "Ramen Restaurant" that will operate during the "2024 Gumi Ramen Festival" (November 1-3).
The evaluation was conducted by dividing the 28 teams that passed the first round of document screening into four groups.
Each team presented unique dishes using ramen as the main ingredient, incorporating local agricultural products, seafood, and exotic ingredients. During the 15-minute on-site cooking and plating session, the competition was as intense as a cooking contest.
Renowned food directors participated as judges to enhance professionalism, and fairness was ensured by establishing evaluation criteria for each category, including expertise in cooking, originality of recipes, hygiene management, and appropriateness of ingredient costs.
By August 20, the city plans to select the final 15 teams, provide professional consulting such as recipe development and hygiene education, and support profile photo shoots, ensuring thorough preparation. Through this process, the Gumi Ramen Festival, opening on November 1, aims to offer visitors unique sights and culinary experiences.
At the "2024 Gumi Ramen Festival," the world's longest ramen restaurant will feature not only local Gumi businesses using freshly fried ramen but also a section introducing distinctive ramen dishes from across the country.
Additionally, there will be an Asia Noodle Zone with local chefs from Taiwan, Vietnam, and other countries participating directly, a Freshly Fried Market where visitors can purchase freshly fried ramen, a ramen pop-up store, and a variety of side menus and beverages that pair well with ramen.
The city of Gumi is accelerating preparations for the festival, determined to make November a "ramen mecca" that will captivate the taste buds and eyes of tourists.
