Uljugun Public Health Center Strengthens Ongoing COVID-19 Response System... Urges Adherence to Preventive Measures

Nationwide Surge in Infections, Ulsan Sees 2.4 Times Increase from Last Week

Epidemiological Investigation for COVID-19 Clusters of 10 or More

Uljugun Public Health Center announced on the 15th that it is strengthening its continuous response system due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases and is urging the public to adhere to respiratory infection prevention guidelines.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency has classified COVID-19 as a fourth-grade sentinel surveillance infectious disease and is monitoring the status of hospitalized patients at 220 sentinel surveillance institutions nationwide.

According to surveillance results, the number of infected individuals nationwide reached 861, a 5.8-fold increase compared to 148 in the second week of July. In Ulsan, the number of cases increased to 27 in the first week of August, a 2.4-fold rise compared to 11 in the second week of July.

Uljugun Public Health Center plans to conduct prompt epidemiological investigations if there are clusters of 10 or more COVID-19 cases in vulnerable facilities.

If symptoms such as cough and fever, which may indicate COVID-19, appear, individuals can receive treatment at general medical institutions. After diagnosis, those aged 60 or older or in high-risk groups can be prescribed and dispensed COVID-19 treatment at designated hospitals and pharmacies.

The list of oral treatment prescribing institutions (43 locations) and dispensing institutions (26 locations) in Uljugun can be found on the 'Infectious Disease Portal' or the Uljugun Public Health Center website.

An official from Uljugun Public Health Center emphasized, "Wearing a mask in crowded places and following respiratory prevention guidelines, such as hand washing, greatly helps prevent COVID-19."
