Promotion of Three Major Safety Rules for Partner Companies
Comprehensive Inspection of Heatwave Response Manual
Busan Port Authority (BPA) conducted a safety campaign on July 14 throughout the Busan Port area to prevent heat-related illnesses as the scorching heatwave continues for an extended period.
BPA, together with partner companies such as the Busan Port Facility Management Center and small and medium-sized stevedoring companies at Gamcheon Port, promoted the three major safety rules for heatwaves (water, shade, rest), and provided over 800 cooling products (cooling sprays) and 2,200 ion beverages to help lower body temperature.
In addition, considering that exposure to extreme heat can lead to serious industrial accidents, BPA informed workers about their right to stop work under Article 52 of the Industrial Safety and Health Act, and conducted a comprehensive inspection of each company's heatwave response manual.
The right to stop work allows workers to request a halt to work and evacuate if they perceive danger due to heatwaves or other risks.
BPA President Kang Junseok stated, "We will do our utmost to prevent any damage from heat-related illnesses by continuously checking and monitoring whether partner companies are complying with the three major safety rules until the heatwave ends."
