Gaslighting and Residential Intrusion Crimes
Including Sexual Assault and Illegal Filming Activities
A man in his 20s who gaslighted, monitored, and continuously assaulted his underage girlfriend, causing damage to her internal organs, has been brought to trial.
On the 13th, JTBC's 'Case Manager' reported a dating violence incident that occurred on June 14, where the perpetrator (21) brutally assaulted the victim (19) at a motel, resulting in organ rupture. The perpetrator called his girlfriend to the motel, forcibly made her drink soju despite her inability to drink well, stripped her to prevent escape, and assaulted her for three hours while saying, "I will kill you and go to prison." He continued cruel acts such as putting cigarette ashes into the girlfriend’s nostrils while she was intoxicated and unable to regain consciousness, and committing acts akin to sexual assault.
As a result of the assault that day, the woman suffered severe injuries including liver rupture. When the woman convulsed and fainted, the perpetrator himself called 119 and was arrested on the spot. During the investigation, it was additionally confirmed that the man had committed sexual assault and illegal filming.
The victim’s mother recounted, "On the day of the incident, I suddenly received a call that my daughter, who said she was going to the convenience store early in the morning, was in the emergency room. It turned out that my daughter's boyfriend had called her to a motel and assaulted her indiscriminately." After regaining consciousness, the woman confessed the assault to her mother, saying, "He stripped me, laid me on the bed and hit me, stood me up and hit me, and hit me so hard that the motel trash can bent. He dragged me by my hair and tore apart the room, causing clumps of my hair to fall out."
The woman and the man met at a cram school in April and dated for about three months. Starting around May, Mr. A began to show violent tendencies, with a total of seven incidents recorded in the indictment. He repeatedly engaged in sadistic acts such as forcing the woman to burn the back of her hand with a cigarette and putting cigarette ashes into her nostrils, and also gaslighted her by isolating her from others, including her family.
He also made his girlfriend write a 'behavioral memorandum.' The 18 behavioral rules included "Do not attend university," "Do not think independently (if such thoughts arise, recall past failures from independent thinking)," "Only read books chosen by oppa," "Do not meet or contact anyone other than oppa," and "Send all income to oppa."
He committed trespassing crimes by entering the house using a password to check whether his girlfriend had removed photos of male celebrities she liked from her room. He threatened to kill her entire family if she reported the abuse, preventing her from disclosing the victimization.
