Uljin County, Delegation from International Sister City Phu Dinh District, Vietnam Visits

Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province announced that on the 12th, a delegation of about 10 representatives from Phung Dinh District in Vietnam, including the chairman of the Phung Dinh District Regional Committee, visited Uljin County to promote exchange, cooperation, and benchmarking in various fields.

Uljin County began its exchange with Phung Dinh District in Vietnam in 2016 through the Saemaul pilot village project and signed a sister city agreement in 2017. Although international exchange activities had slowed recently due to COVID-19, with this visit from Phung Dinh District, exchange and cooperation activities are expected to become active again.


On this day, the Phung Dinh District delegation visited Uljin County Office and discussed ways to expand international exchanges between the two cities with County Governor Son Byungbok. After visiting the county office, the delegation experienced the flavors of Uljin by tasting Korean cuisine made with Uljin’s local specialties and toured Uljin’s major tourist attractions such as Seongnyugul Cave and Wangpicheon Cable Car.


They also expressed their intention to benchmark Uljin’s advanced agricultural technology by visiting a Uljin shiitake mushroom farm.


The county is actively pursuing city diplomacy through practical and multifaceted international cooperation in line with the era of globalization, planning to build an international exchange and collaboration network and enhance Uljin County’s diplomatic capabilities through communication.


County Governor Son Byungbok stated, “Taking the visit of the Phung Dinh District delegation from Vietnam as an opportunity, we will strive to achieve tangible results that can be directly felt by our residents, such as job creation and attracting tourists, through continuous exchange in various fields including economy, tourism, and culture with our international sister cities.”
