Emergency Vaccination Against Lumpy Skin Disease for 50,000 Cattle in Cheonan Area

Chungnam Province Implements Preemptive Measures in Adjacent Areas Following Outbreak at Hanwoo Farm in Anseong, Gyeonggi

Emergency Vaccination Against Lumpy Skin Disease for 50,000 Cattle in Cheonan Area

Chungnam Province is implementing an emergency vaccination campaign against lumpy skin disease for approximately 50,000 cattle in the Cheonan area.

According to the province on the 14th, following the recent outbreak of lumpy skin disease at a Hanwoo farm in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, emergency measures will be taken for livestock farms in the neighboring Cheonan area.

The vaccination targets 53,336 cattle raised at 538 farms in Cheonan. For farms with fewer than 50 cattle, official veterinarians will administer the vaccinations directly, while larger-scale professional farms will handle the vaccinations themselves.

The province plans to conduct antibody titer tests four weeks after vaccination to confirm the rate of vaccine-induced immunity.

Lee Deokmin, Director of the Provincial Bureau of Agriculture, Forestry, and Livestock, stated, "The most reliable way to protect livestock farms from lumpy skin disease is thorough vaccination," adding, "We will ensure that every animal currently being raised receives the vaccination without exception."
