Exploring Functional Substances in Bio-Resources and Verifying Changes and Efficacy According to Environmental Factors
Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced on the 14th that Jeon Sehyun, a master's student in the Department of Applied Life Science (graduate of the Department of Bio-Resource Industry), and Ko Eunjeong and Park Donghyun, fourth-year students in the Department of Bio-Resource Industry, each received the Excellent Poster Award at the '2024 Korean Society for Life Science International Conference'.
The Korean Society for Life Science is a professional academic organization where experts, researchers, and students in the life sciences field gather to share knowledge and research experiences. It publishes the 'Journal of Life Science' focusing on four main areas: 'Biochemistry/Molecular Biology', 'Food Science/Microbiology', 'Physiologically Active Substances', and 'Biomedical Science'.
Dong-A University graduate student Jeon Sehyun and undergraduate students Ko Eunjeong and Park Donghyun presented in the 'Food Science/Microbiology' session at the recent international academic conference held in Gyeongju.
The Dong-A University students achieved the distinction of winning two Excellent Poster Awards with their research titled 'Verification of Functional Substances and Study on the Content According to Efficacy and Environmental Changes for the Optimization of Food Material Development in Crops of Bio-Resources'.
The Functional Substance Analysis Laboratory, to which Jeon Sehyun, Ko Eunjeong, and Park Donghyun belong, is conducting research on the isolation/purification of functional substances from various plants, structural analysis and content change studies, as well as physiological activity verification of single functional substances for the development of food and pharmaceutical materials.
This research was carried out with the support of the Ministry of Environment's Green Convergence Technology Talent Cultivation Specialized Graduate School Bio-Material Project Group and the National Research Foundation of Korea's Mid-Career Research Project.
The awardees shared their thoughts, saying, "We are honored to receive the Excellent Poster Award at the international conference, and we will take this as encouragement to devote ourselves even more to our research. We were able to achieve these great results thanks to our advisor’s deep guidance and support."
