In the keynote speech the day before, Joo Myung-geon, Honorary Chairman of Sejong University, said, "By dredging the Nakdong River and developing Daegu into a world-class inland port, it should become a central hub of the global supply chain along with Busan," adding, "Daegu Port is farther from China than the West Sea, making it advantageous from a security perspective."

Honorary Chairman Joo stated, "78% of South Korea's population is concentrated along the Han River and Nakdong River," and "to maximize South Korea's national power in the era of globalization, these regions must be connected to the global supply chain."

The seminar presented prospects that through the development of Daegu Port, droughts and floods can be prepared for, water shortage issues can be resolved, and the economies of Gyeongsangnam-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do regions can be grown.
