Additional Declaration of Myeoncheon-myeon, Dangjin-si as a Special Disaster Area

Myeoncheon-myeon in Dangjin-si, Chungnam, which suffered severe damage from heavy rain, has been additionally designated as a special disaster area.


According to the province on the 14th, the government additionally declared parts of Dangjin-si in Chungnam and some towns and districts in Paju-si, Gyeonggi as special disaster areas the previous day.


Myeoncheon-myeon in Dangjin-si suffered property damage amounting to 1.2 billion KRW due to heavy rain from the 16th to the 19th of last month.


With the designation as a special disaster area, Myeoncheon-myeon will now receive 80% of disaster relief funds from the national budget, an increase of 10%.


Including Nonsan, Seocheon, Buyeo, and Geumsan, which were previously designated as special disaster areas, four cities and counties and three towns and districts in Chungnam have now been declared special disaster areas.


It has been tallied that the rain that fell in Chungnam from the 16th to the 19th of last month caused damage amounting to 6 billion KRW to public facilities and 1.9 billion KRW to private facilities, totaling 7.9 billion KRW across 13 cities and counties.
