Leading the Expansion of Renewable Energy and Achieving Carbon Neutrality
Ulsan City will sign an investment agreement for the Ulsan Industrial Complex Solar Power Supply Project at 3 p.m. on the 14th in the mayor's office.
This agreement has been arranged to facilitate the smooth implementation of a project to install 150MW-scale solar power facilities on factory roofs and idle sites within industrial complexes in the Ulsan area, with approximately 300 billion KRW invested by Korea Midland Power, Next S, and Green Harbor Asset Management.
Eight organizations will participate in the agreement, including Ulsan City, Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Ulsan Industrial Complex Management Association, Industrial Bank of Korea, Korea Midland Power, Next S, and Green Harbor Asset Management.
Through this agreement, Ulsan City, Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, and Ulsan Industrial Complex Management Association will provide administrative support for the distribution of solar power within the industrial complexes.
Korea Midland Power will handle the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates and applications for the use of power transmission and distribution facilities.
Next S will conduct corporate demand surveys, promotion, marketing, and development, while Green Harbor Asset Management will be responsible for financing.
Industrial Bank of Korea will apply preferential interest rates to companies installing solar power facilities.
Companies participating in the installation of solar power in industrial complexes will receive rental income from solar power generation and benefit from the Sunplus services planned by the Industrial Complex Renewable Energy Promotion Team for resident companies, including factory environment improvement services, power efficiency services, and social value management (ESG) support services.
An official from Ulsan City stated, "Through the industrial complex solar power supply project, we will expand the supply of sustainable renewable energy and actively support the realization of carbon neutrality and RE100 in cooperation with related organizations."
At the Renewable Energy Policy Council held in July, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy identified industrial complexes with good local and grid acceptance as optimal sites for orderly, state-led solar power supply and announced plans to promote solar power in industrial complexes.
Ulsan Mipo and Onsan National Industrial Complexes are among the designated sites for the large-scale public-led pilot project by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Accordingly, Ulsan City plans to create successful cases of industrial complex-type solar power through proactive public investment and collaboration with related organizations.
