Active Promotion of Safety and Health Guardian Activities

Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 14th that it held a "Joint Campaign for the Prevention of Heat-Related Illnesses and Industrial Accidents" in front of a private medical facility construction site in Hadae-dong, targeting construction site workers and citizens on their way to work.

More than 50 people participated in the campaign, including Mayor Cho Kyu-il, Yeon Changseok, head of the Jinju branch of the Employment and Labor Office, the head of the Construction Safety Division at the National Land Safety Management Agency, and the head of the Western Gyeongnam branch of the Korea Industrial Safety Association, as well as officials from related agencies and organizations in the area.

Jinju City and related organizations explained that, with the ongoing heatwave, they prepared the joint campaign to raise awareness among construction workers and citizens about the importance of preventing heat-related illnesses and major industrial accidents, and to promote a culture of safety in daily life.

Participants checked the heatwave response measures and industrial safety conditions at the construction site, and provided information and promoted the three basic rules for preventing heat-related illnesses?"water, shade (wind), rest"?to workers and citizens on their way to work. They also distributed prevention guides and industrial accident prevention leaflets.

Mayor Cho stated, "I hope all citizens and workers strictly adhere to safety rules so everyone can have a safe and healthy summer," adding, "I urge business owners to make efforts to prevent industrial accidents. The city will also do its best to promote policies supporting the prevention of industrial and major accidents."

Meanwhile, Jinju City has designated a "Summer Heatwave Response Intensive Promotion Period" until the 16th, strengthening on-site inspections for vulnerable groups and areas, expanding and maintaining heatwave relief facilities such as cooling shelters, and promoting various support projects such as professional consulting and safety and health guardians to prevent serious accidents at workplaces.
