At 10 a.m. on the 15th at the Civic Center Grand Theater, over 1,200 attendees including Mayor Park Hyungjun, heads of veterans' organizations, descendants of independence patriots, key institution leaders, and citizens

Mayor Park: "I pay tribute to the patriots who devoted their noble lives to independence and liberation, and I will complete 'Global Hub City Busan' to overcome crises."

On the morning of the 15th at 10:00 AM, Busan City will hold the '79th Liberation Day Celebration Event' at the Grand Theater of the Citizens' Hall.

Prior to the event, at 9:00 AM, Mayor Park Hyungjun and about 30 others will visit the Memorial Tablet Enshrinement Hall at the Liberation Memorial Hall to pay tribute to the patriotic ancestors.

Approximately 1,200 people, including Mayor Park, heads of veterans' organizations, descendants of independence patriots, key institutional leaders, and citizens, will attend this celebration ceremony.

The event will proceed in the following order: ▲National Ceremony ▲Screening of a Commemorative Video ▲Commemorative Speech by Baek Kihwan, Head of the Busan Branch of the Liberation Association ▲Congratulatory Address by Mayor Park Hyungjun ▲Celebratory Performance by the Busan City Arts Group ▲Singing of the Liberation Day Song and Three Cheers for Independence.

In particular, this year's celebration will feature a special performance by the Busan City Arts Group titled 'The Great Counterattack, Busan,' inspired by the 'Battle of Busanpo,' which laid the groundwork for a major counteroffensive during the Imjin War.

As the victory day of the Battle of Busanpo has been designated as 'Busan Citizens' Day' (October 5), this meaningful stage will serve as an opportunity to once again reflect on the noble spirit of resistance shown by our ancestors at Busanpo and to reaffirm the commitment to advance Busan as a 'Global Hub City.'

In his congratulatory address, Mayor Park Hyungjun is expected to say, "On the occasion of the 79th Liberation Day, I pay tribute to the ancestors who devoted their precious lives for the independence and liberation of our nation, and I hope we can deeply reflect on the meaning of liberation." He will add, "To overcome the crises facing the Republic of Korea and achieve sustainable development, Busan will take the lead in building the infrastructure for innovation and spreading the wave of innovation throughout the city to complete 'Global Hub City Busan.'" He will also vow, "Busan has always been at the forefront of Korea's path?from independence and nation-building to miraculous economic growth and democratization. We will overcome the current national crisis and stagnation with the power of Busan and its citizens." He will conclude, "Just as the passionate patriotism of our ancestors led to liberation, the passionate love of Busan citizens will brightly illuminate the future of both Busan and Korea."

To mark this year's Liberation Day, the city and its districts and counties are promoting the 'Love for the Nation, Taegeukgi Hoisting Campaign.' Taegeukgi flags are being displayed on major roads and public transportation to honor the noble sacrifices of our ancestors and to inspire patriotism, creating a Liberation Day atmosphere throughout Busan.
