Fintech company Hecto Financial announced on the 14th that it is partnering with Samsung Electronics to supply barrier-free kiosks.
Hecto Financial has completed the development of barrier-free kiosks equipped with tactile keypads on kiosks produced by Samsung Electronics and has begun distributing them to the premium dessert cafe chain 'Twosome Place' directly operated stores and nationwide franchises. Along with supplying Twosome Place stores nationwide, Hecto Financial is also discussing kiosk adoption with various industries such as large food and beverage franchises, medical institutions, and public organizations.
Barrier-free kiosks are designed to improve accessibility so that elderly users and those with hearing, visual, or physical disabilities who have difficulty using conventional kiosks can use them easily. Their introduction was mandated by the amendment of the "Act on the Prohibition of Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities and Remedy Against Infringement of Their Rights" (Disability Discrimination Act) last year.
Hecto Financial developed barrier-free kiosks by equipping Samsung Electronics-manufactured kiosks with tactile keypads and voice guidance functions, enabling users with visual impairments and others to use them easily. These kiosks support both online and offline card payment systems (VAN and PG) and can provide customized user interfaces (UI) for each franchise. Hecto Financial also offers PG (Payment Gateway) services alongside the kiosks to support fast settlements and integrated transaction management by card companies.
With the amendment of the Disability Discrimination Act mandating barrier-free kiosks, public, educational, medical, financial institutions, and transportation facilities have already adopted barrier-free kiosks. From the 28th of last month, the installation obligation expanded to welfare facilities, cultural and artistic businesses, and employers with 100 or more regular employees. Starting January 28th next year, barrier-free kiosks will be introduced across society, including tourism operators, sports facilities, and employers with fewer than 100 regular employees.
Jung Woo-sung, Executive Director of Marketing at Hecto Financial, said, “Demand for barrier-free kiosks is expected to increase significantly following the amendment of the Disability Discrimination Act,” adding, “We will continuously enhance the functionality to improve convenience for both franchisees and customers, while expanding partnerships across various sectors.”
