On Seok Oh, the mayor of Dobong District, is cheering with children wearing taekwondo uniforms on the 13th, expressing his determination to attract Kukkiwon to Dobong.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that the number of signatures for the nationwide citizen campaign to attract the Kukkiwon has exceeded 90,000 in less than a month.
Earlier, on July 25, the district held the launch ceremony of the "Kukkiwon Dobong-gu Relocation Promotion Committee" and began a full-scale signature campaign to attract the Kukkiwon to the former site of the Chemical Unit in Dobong-dong, Dobong-gu (around 438 Dobong-dong).
Since then, centered on the committee, the district has conducted both online and offline signature campaigns, surpassing 90,000 signatures and approaching the target of 100,000.
The district plans to operate an intensive signature period until August 17, while simultaneously conducting on-site signature campaigns at high foot traffic areas such as Chang-dong Station, Ssangmun Station, and the entrance to Dobongsan, aiming to achieve the goal of 100,000 signatures early.
On the 13th, Mayor Oh Eon-seok personally visited Chang-dong Station to appeal for the interest and participation of residents. On that day, Mayor Oh said, "Attracting the Kukkiwon will greatly contribute to the development of Dobong-gu," and added, "Active participation and support from residents are necessary."
On July 26, to request active cooperation from the National Assembly, Mayor Oh met with National Assembly member Kim Jae-seop. During the meeting, Mayor Oh emphasized that the former Chemical Unit site in Dobong-dong is the optimal location for the Kukkiwon relocation.
