Jungnang-gu Hosts the 3rd Midsummer Night Concert in Celebration of Gwangbokjeol

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will hold the "3rd Midsummer Night Concert" on the 14th at Mangwoo History and Culture Park to commemorate the 79th Liberation Day. This event was organized to honor the sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs and to widely promote the historical and cultural value of Mangwoo History and Culture Park.

The concert will begin at 5:40 PM outdoors at Jungnang Mangwoo Space within Mangwoo History and Culture Park, and anyone can attend for free without prior registration. Additionally, the free shuttle bus connecting Yangwon Station and Mangwoo History and Culture Park will be extended by one hour and operate until 7 PM.

This concert features a variety of programs that all generations can enjoy, including Taekwonmu (Taekwondo dance), live performances by famous singers, and instrumental performances. In particular, a Taekwondo performance reenacting the moment of liberation is prepared, expected to provide a meaningful time to remember the sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs and reflect on history. The concert finale will be decorated with a special performance by singer Jung Dong-ha.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, "I hope this concert will be an opportunity for residents to feel the preciousness of freedom and independence," and added, "We will continue to cultivate Mangwoo History and Culture Park as a space where the scent of history and culture can be felt."

Mangwoo History and Culture Park was originally established as a communal cemetery during the Japanese colonial period in 1933, closed in 1973, and reborn as a history and culture park in 2019. It is the resting place of over 80 famous figures from modern and contemporary history, including independence activists and cultural artists such as Yu Gwan-sun, Han Yong-un, and Bang Jeong-hwan.
