Seoul Metro Hosts Safety Experience Event for Children from Low-Income Families

Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) announced that, as part of its social contribution activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Seoul subway with citizens, it hosted a safety and cultural experience event on the 13th by inviting 60 children from low-income families to the Citizen Safety Experience Center.

On that day, 60 children living in Nowon-gu and Dobong-gu, Seoul, along with officials from local children's centers, visited the Citizen Safety Experience Center located on the basement first floor of Banpo Station on Line 7, upon the company's invitation.

The Citizen Safety Experience Center is a safety-themed space operated by Seoul Metro, filled with various attractions such as subway models and fun safety experiences in the form of interactive games.

The children had time to learn how to respond to emergency situations that may occur while using the subway, such as escape methods during a fire using virtual reality (VR) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) using a smart CPR device.

In addition, interesting programs tailored to the children's level were prepared, including virtual driving experience through a train simulator, paper folding of train models, and a safety quiz using ‘Ttota’, the official character of the Seoul subway.

One child who participated in the event said, “Since I was young, my dream was to become a subway driver. Today, experiencing virtual train driving made me so happy as if I had achieved my dream, and it will be a memory I will never forget.”

The event was attended by Lee Kyung-sook, Vice Chairperson of the Seoul Metropolitan Council Transportation Committee (People Power Party, Dobong 1), and Yoon Ki-seop (People Power Party, Nowon 5), who spent time with the children.

In June, the company also donated 5 million won each to Nowon District Office and Dobong District Office for cultural experience and educational activities for children in the local community.

Baek Ho, President of Seoul Metro, said, “This year marks the meaningful 50th anniversary of the opening of the Seoul subway. Through various sharing activities such as bread sharing of love, plogging challenges with citizens, and support for homeless shelters, we are expressing our gratitude to the citizens. We will continue to contribute to the local community through social contribution programs utilizing the company's expertise in transportation and safety, and actively practice the values of coexistence and companionship.”
