On the 12th, Suspected Cases of Diseased Animals Occurred in the Area... Emergency Culling Conducted
On the 12th, Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 13th that it had taken emergency quarantine measures to prevent the spread of suspected cases of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in cattle at a Korean beef farm in Iljuk-myeon.
The city explained that on the morning of the same day, after the farm owner reported suspected LSD symptoms based on skin lesions, detailed testing was conducted, confirming the presence of the LSD virus. LSD is a viral disease characterized by high fever and skin nodules, which first occurred domestically in October last year in Seosan, Chungnam, and has since affected 107 farms nationwide.

The city has been continuously implementing livestock infectious disease management by establishing an LSD response plan, and after last year's mass vaccination, it conducted two rounds of vaccinations this year to maintain antibody formation rates.
According to the emergency Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the city plans to proactively carry out emergency culling of confirmed positive animals and conduct selective culling after testing the entire herd.
Additionally, on the 13th, an emergency quarantine countermeasure meeting chaired by the vice mayor was held, and a 24-hour Disaster Safety Countermeasure Headquarters situation room will be operated. The city will focus all efforts on quarantine by operating base disinfection facilities and disinfection vehicles, managing transfer stations centered on quarantine zones, supporting vaccine supply and administration with the mobilization of public veterinarians, conducting detailed epidemiological and clinical examinations of quarantine zones and farms, performing weekly clinical surveillance, and distributing disinfectants to cattle farms.
Yoo Tae-il, Vice Mayor of Anseong City, said, "Although we maintained a clean area through thorough preventive activities when LSD spread nationwide last year, it is regrettable that suspected cases have occurred. We will do our utmost to prevent further spread."
