Although Pyeongon Forest has 12 cremators, there were only two bone collection rooms, causing delays and long waiting times for bereaved families. The bone collection room is where the cremated bones are gathered. Due to the bottleneck caused by the shortage of bone collection rooms, the 12th cremator, completed last year, has not been operational.

To improve the bone collection system, the city invested a total of 1.35 billion KRW this year, including 660 million KRW from national and provincial funds and 690 million KRW from city funds, to add 10 more bone collection rooms. With the expansion, bereaved families will experience reduced waiting times and will be able to receive the ashes immediately after cremation without having to move elsewhere, the city explained.

With the expansion of the bone collection rooms, the city plans to operate the large 12th cremator, which had been inactive, starting from the 1st of next month. Once the 12th cremator is operational, the daily cremation capacity will increase from 40 to 45 bodies.

Applications for using the cremation facilities can be submitted and reserved through the 'e-Haneul Funeral Information System.' Detailed information about the cremation procedures can be found on the 'Yongin Pyeongon Forest' website.

A city official stated, "We will continue to do our best to manage the cremation facilities so that bereaved families can send off their loved ones with dignity and without inconvenience."
