RaonSecure Wins Indonesia's 'Integrated Digital ID Service Project'

RaonSecure, the company that developed South Korea's mobile ID, is conducting a pilot project linking Indonesia's national public services to blockchain digital ID, following its consulting on the design of Indonesia's national digital ID. Upon successful completion of this project, it is expected to lay the foundation for expanding services to Indonesia's population of 280 million.

IT security and authentication platform company RaonSecure (CEO Lee Soon-hyung, Lee Jung-ah) won the contract for the "Indonesia Integrated Digital ID Service Project" following the "2023 Korea-Indonesia Digital Government Joint Cooperation Project Consulting" by the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of Korea. Accordingly, RaonSecure will carry out a pilot project for Indonesia's digital ID services based on its blockchain digital ID platform, "OmniOne Digital ID," and provide consulting on the digital ID security framework.

With this project contract, RaonSecure will be responsible for ▲building and developing a digital ID demo environment for implementing Indonesia's digital services ▲consulting on Indonesia's digital security framework ▲providing capacity-building training on digital ID for Indonesian public officials. The project involves establishing a pilot environment linking services used by Indonesian citizens with a blockchain-based decentralized identity (DID) system, developing digital wallets, and designing the security framework architecture necessary for Indonesia's digital ID adoption. Based on this, guidelines and strategies will be formulated.

Previously, in May last year, RaonSecure successfully completed the Indonesia national digital ID design consulting project commissioned by NIA. Indonesia is promoting the adoption of digital ID as a priority task under the "Presidential Decree on Accelerating Digital Transformation and Integrating National Digital Services," enacted in December last year. NIA's strategy is to support Indonesia's digital ID adoption based on South Korea's advanced mobile ID development experience, thereby establishing a foundation for Korean companies' overseas expansion.

RaonSecure is executing this project particularly based on its experience in successfully building Korea's blockchain-based mobile ID. The mobile driver's license, issued by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety starting early 2022, and the mobile national veterans registration card, issued since June last year, are platforms composed of RaonSecure's blockchain-based distributed server nodes and FIDO (biometric authentication) technology. RaonSecure also secured the project to build the mobile resident registration card, scheduled for issuance starting this December.

Additionally, RaonSecure has been continuously winning digital ID-related projects from overseas governments, such as last month’s contract for developing the public service digital wallet system for the Costa Rican government, expanding its blockchain digital ID business globally.

Yoo Jin Lee, Vice President of RaonSecure’s Overseas Business Division, said, "With the technology and capabilities that implemented the world's first blockchain mobile ID, we take pride in contributing to the global expansion of South Korea's digital platform government and will successfully carry out this Indonesia digital ID service project." She added, "Furthermore, we will accelerate our leap toward becoming a global leader in the blockchain digital ID field."
