Oh Eon-seok, Dobong-gu Mayor, "All-out Effort to Minimize Heatwave Damage"... Chairs 3rd Emergency Heatwave Response Meeting

On June 12, Oh Eon-seok, the mayor of Dobong-gu, held an emergency inspection meeting to respond to the heatwave. The purpose was to assess the damage to residents caused by the heatwave and to review the response measures of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.


Earlier, on June 6, the district proactively activated the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul. The headquarters, composed of eight working teams including the Situation Control Team and the Living Stability Support Team, and 12 collaborative departments, is sharing heatwave-related updates in real time and doing its best to implement heatwave countermeasures.


During the meeting, Mayor Oh Eon-seok presided and ordered focused inspections on ▲ vulnerable groups to heatwaves ▲ safety management for outdoor workers such as those at construction sites ▲ heatwave relief facilities such as cooling shelters ▲ and facilities vulnerable to power outages during summer.


He especially instructed to expand support for vulnerable groups to heatwaves. Previously, the district provided a total of 2,826 cooling items including 200 fans, 95 cool scarves, 110 sun umbrellas, 1,400 cool arm sleeves, and 1,007 food supplies to low-income households and others. Additionally, 2,000 cool scarves will be supplied to households vulnerable to health management during visits, and 6,000 items including handheld fans and cool scarves will be provided to housing-vulnerable households.


Oh Eon-seok, mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “The heatwave advisory is currently in effect, and the heatwave is expected to continue for some time. I ask everyone to devote full efforts to implementing heatwave countermeasures for the health and safety of our residents.”
